
Due to heavy snowfall in the high altitude areas of the district, there was a huge avalanche on the Gangotri highway between Dharli and Bhairoghati. However, there was no damage due to the closure of the movement of vehicles and away from the residential settlement. According to BRO officials, an attempt will be made to open the highway after the snowfall stops.
On February 28, there was a huge avalanche due to snowfall in the high altitude areas of the district, near Dabrani, Jhala and Dharali and Bhairoghati. At the same time, during the snowfall since last Monday, the Meteorological Department warned of avalanche in high altitude places.
There was a big avalanche near Changthang ahead of Dharali on Tuesday morning. Due to the closure of Gangotri highway due to snowfall, movement is closed during winter and the population area is far away. So there was no loss of any kind. At the same time, the avalanche took place up to the Bhagirathi river about 100 meters below Gangotri highway.
Ten rural motorways disrupted
BRO Commander Vivek Srivastava said that there is heavy snowfall in that area. Efforts will be made to remove the avalanche as soon as the snowfall becomes light. It has not caused any kind of damage.
Today, there is snowfall in high altitude areas in the state and rain in low -lying areas. The routes are disrupted due to snowfall from Songad to Gangotri. BRO-1442 BCC has been smooth for vehicles with non-skid chains only by BCC.
Currently snowfall continues. On the top top, a JE is monitoring the work of removing ice. Two JCB bets are working up to the top from Sonagad. An X205 equator has been sent to Dabrani to deal with any type of avalanche. Apart from this, ten rural motorways of the district are disrupted.

Light rain was expected by the Meteorological Department in the mountainous districts of the state today. According to the forecast issued by the Meteorological Center, there is a possibility of light rains in parts of Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh district including Dehradun.

In Chamoli district, an avalanche warning has been issued in the altitude areas in the next 24 hours. This warning has been issued by Defense Research and Development Organization (DGRE) Chandigarh. It is said that avalanche may occur in areas with a height of 2500 meters of Chamoli. Apart from this, a warning of avalanche has also been issued in the altitude areas of Rudraprayag, Uttarkashi, Pithoragarh region. District Magistrate Sandeep Tiwari has instructed all officers to stay on alert mode. Also, movement has been stopped in snowfall areas.
