Tanakpur (Champawat). During the night patrolling in depot number three of Uttarakhand Forest Corporation, the bear attacked and injured a worker. The employee, showing courage, rescued himself and the partner by making noise on the bear from the pole. The injured were given primary treatment at the Deputy District Hospital.
Virendra Chand (45), a resident of Ambagh, who was injured in the bear attack at around 5:30 am on Tuesday morning, was brought to the Deputy District Hospital. The injured Virendra said that he has been posted as an outsourced personnel in Forest Corporation Depot 3 since the year 2023. He was patrolling the night at the depot with his partner Kamal Joshi on Monday night. Meanwhile, while patrolling at around two o’clock in the late night, a bear suddenly attacked him.
Virendra introduced courage and started attacking the bear with a stick. He continued to shower poles on the bear until he ran away. At the same time, both the workers made noise. The bear ran away on this. In the attack, the bear hit Virendra’s body in many places. Hearing the noise, other forest workers also reached the spot. When he felt more pain in the morning, fellow personnel rushed him to the hospital. Dr. Mohammad Omar did his primary treatment.
