Around ten o’clock on Wednesday morning, suddenly a heavy rock broke from the hill in front of Govindghat and fell directly on the Suspension Bridge (bridge on the support of the cable) on the Alaknanda river. In one stroke the bridge fell into the Alaknanda River with stones.
The bridge side of the bridge fell into the river while the side of Govindghat hanged and hanged. At the same time, a person was also buried in the debris. After the incident, teams from Tehsil Administration, SDRF, Health Department and Lonivi reached the spot.

Temporary bridge work started
District Magistrate Dr. Sandeep Tiwari informed that Hemkund Sahib, Valley of Flowers, Pulna and Bhundar have been lost due to the breakdown of the bridge in Govindghat. Lonivi has started temporary bridge construction work for the movement of villagers. At the same time, Lonivi has described the need for Valley Bridge of 110 meters span for general movement. Instructions have been given to prepare its proposal.

Carpenter dies
According to DM, one person has died due to landslide. The SDRF team took out the body from the rubble at around four in the afternoon. SO Vinod Rawat of Govindghat police station said that the deceased has been identified as Joginder Sharma (34 years) son Paras resident Sudama Nagar police station Beria, District Bettiah, Champaran, Bihar. Joginder used to work as a carpenter here. He was coming from Pulna towards Govindghat. As soon as he reached near the bridge, there was a sudden landslide.

Sardar Seva Singh, senior manager of Govindghat Gurdwara, said that the incident took place at around 10.15 am on Wednesday. All people were busy with their work.
