Kedarnath Ropeway Project and Hemkund Ropeway Project has been approved by the Center. The Union Cabinet has approved the 12.9 km long ropeway project from Sonprayag to Kedarnath in Uttarakhand under the National Ropeway Development Program’s ranges.

The agency is preparing the DPR of the project. Experts say that there are only two options to make Kedarnath Yatra safe. The first is walking on foot, but it is difficult for the elderly, children and disabled. The second option is the ropeway or cable car, which is going to facilitate the journey of children, old people, soldiers and disabled.

Heli services in the state will be limited after the Kedarnath ropeway is built. One of the most dangerous valleys of the Himalayas is considered very risky for Kedarnath. After the ropeway, Haley Seva will reduce the craze of traveling to Kedarnath. Being safe and economical, passengers will prefer to travel through ropeway or cable car. In such a situation, heli services will be limited.
