Manoj Bhandari of Uttarkashi, who was injured during Mana avalanche, still trembles today, telling the story of that day. When he came to get the shelter, he got stuck in the snow walls on both sides. In front of him, a companion died and he had to calm the hunger and thirst by eating ice.
Manoj, a resident of Junga village in Uttarkashi, faced death three times on the day of the avalanche accident. Bhandari said that there were 9 containers for laborers to live in Mana, out of which five people were present in containers.
The avalanche came so fast that he did not know that he crossed a road with a container and fell down. If there was a slight distance, then it would have merged directly into the river. After that, the situation became normal and some people left for Badrinath through the loaders. So there he and 13 people went ahead with him.
